MADISON, WI USA (April 18, 2023) Porta Sophia filed third party observations with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) today for International Patent Application Number PCT/IB2022/052189 entitled “Antidepressant-Psilocybin Co-Treatment to Assist Psychotherapy” assigned to Universitätsspital Basel. The submission consisted of 18 prior art documents that are material to the patentability of all 20 claims of the application.
Concurrently, Porta Sophia filed a third-party preissuance submission with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on March 29, 2023 for U.S. Pat. App. Ser. The Universitätsspital Basel application was filed on March 11, 2022, and claims priority to a US provisional application filed on June 8, 2021. It describes a method of co-administering an antidepressant with a psychedelic to induce more positive psychological state compared to psychedelic alone. The application claimed broad groups of antidepressants such as SSRI, SNRI, NDRI, tricyclic antidepressant and psychedelic compounds including psilocybin, LSD, DMT, mescaline, DOI, DOB and more. In addition, the application claims administering the cotreatment for individuals with depression, anxiety, OCD, personality disorder and addiction.

WIPO Patent Cooperation Treaty guidelines allow third parties to submit prior art and concise descriptions of their relevance to the WIPO.
