MADISON, WI USA (June 16, 2022) Porta Sophia filed a third-party preissuance submission with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) today for U.S. Pat. App. Ser. No. 17/431,626 entitled “5-METHOXY-N,N-DIMETHYLTRYPTAMINE (5-MEO-DMT) FOR TREATING DEPRESSION”, which is currently assigned to GH Research Ireland Limited. The submission consisted of 23 prior art documents that are material to the patentability of all 37 claims of the application.

The ’626 application was filed on February 24, 2020 and claims priority to a provisional application filed on February 22, 2019. It describes the use 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (5-MeO-DMT) to treat depressive disorders and how to quantify its effects. In addition to treatment indication, 5-MeO-DMT dosage range and delivery method are also claimed.
Prior art in the third-party preissuance submission included publications from peer reviewed journals, books, U.S. and international patent documents, and evidence published in public online forums.
